Ayad Colony, a northeastern suburb of Udaipur, near Rana Pratap Station; the river Ayad flows through this area, hence its name. The place is important from an archaeological viewpoint because it houses the remains of an old civilisation.

Ayodhya, an ancient Hindu holy city in Uttar Pradesh; traditionally the ancestral home of the rulers of Mewar: in mythical times, Ram, hero of the Ramayana and descendant of Surya the Sun God ruled Ayodhya. See MEWAR'S TRADITIONAL LINEAGE.

Ayurvedic Hospital, in Moti Chauhatta, between Ghantaghar (Clock Tower) and Hathi Pol, Udaipur. It uses the ancient Hindu Ayurveda system of medication, mainly using herbal medicines.

Azam, Prince, one of three sons of Mughal emperor AURANGZEB who accompanied his father in his campaigns against Mewar in the late 17th century (see RAJ SINGH I vs. AURANGZEB, and RAJ SINGH I, MAHARANA). Later, Azam came to Udaipur with his brother, Dilir Khan to ratify a treaty with Maharana JAI SINGH (1680-1698), which the latter's father, the late Maharana RAJ SINGH I (1653-1680) had drawn up with Aurangzeb.
