"The Story of Creation - The World of Mewar", is our first attempt in portraying the birth of our civilisation and the evolution of our time-honoured values.

The focus has been on rediscovering our heritage and making it relevant to our changing times. The eternal values, enshrined in our Puranic literature and the Epics, will continue to remain our strength and our inspiration, however much our world may change.

As the present custodian of the House of Mewar, I thank you for visiting our site. In the years to come, this site will grow in splendour and will be enriched by research and insight on every aspect of our civilisation. The site will bloom, quite like a tree, and in its glory we will rediscover facets of our heritage.

We have divided this section into two parts - The Lineage of Mewar and the Ancestry of the House of Mewar. The Lineage of Mewar traces our descent from the Sun up to Guhaditya (569 A.D.). The Ancestry of the House of Mewar begins from there, and

continues up to the present.

To capture the essence of the past, we have referred to the Rig-Veda, the Vishnu Purana, Ramayana and Mahabharata andcommentaries by learned personalities and historians. For the genealogical history of Mewar, we have drawn heavily from 'Veer Vinod', the 19th century epic of Shyamaldas, and, of course, Col James Tod who remains the pioneering chronicler of British India.

May our heritage continue to unite us and inspire us in the years to come.
